And now... the rest of the story

Still wondering who the people at Hope Bible Church are? Be sure to read our new "Dynamics of Hope" newsletter by clicking on the link at the top of this page on the right!

Read about our love for Jesus Christ, our devotion to the word of God, our various ministries, our events, and even our church family! We are truly a diverse group, but with a common anchor in the Lord. (Hebrews 6:19-20)

Ministry Opportunities

Ever wonder where you might be able to serve within the church? HBC is blessed to have a large majority of its members faithfully involved in various ministries, giving of their time and talents for the benefit of the Lord! Behind every corner, and around the clock, members are faithfully serving in one capacity or the other in our 50 or so ministries. But…. there is always more work to do than there are hands to do it!

On a regular basis, Pastor Leake is approached by people with tremendous ideas for new ministries, or improvements to existing ministries. His response however is always the same….. “Great idea, but who is going to do it?” And, therein lies the rub. If you identify some way to minister within the church, to do something new or better for the glory of the Lord, be sure to share it with the church’s leadership. But, before you do, be sure that if you introduce an idea, you also are willing to either follow through with planning and execution, or coordinate a team who will.
God gives us all gifts that we can use for His glory. Be sure that you use yours!

Hope Bible Church Home Educators

It's official! Hope Bible Church now has an official homeschool umbrella group that is recognized by and in the state of Maryland! Its name is "Hope Bible Church Home Educators" and it's being coordinated by our own Karen Apple. For those of you who don't know, Karen was the person instrumental in developing the Christian Home Educators Network (CHEN) in Maryland.)

Parents who homeschool or are interested in homeschooling their children and who would like to become a member of our new umbrella group should contact Karen (email). Do it now so that you can begin the fall 2007 semester with confidence!

The Facility Search Continues!

As God has seen fit to grow the congregation at Hope Bible Church, we have actively been pursuing a number of facility options. The Facility Committee led by Brian Kim, has determined that the #1 priority for our needs is a 7-day a week, full-time facility where our ministries can grow and develop, where the body life at Hope can be strengthened through fellowship and encouragement, and where our place of worship within the community can be established. After ten years since our church’s beginning, and eight years at Fulton Elementary School, we hope that the Lord determines that we’re ready to “graduate from elementary school.

Most recently, a number of HBC members have toured a beautiful facility smack dab in the middle of Columbia. Not only can it fulfill our desired geographical target, but it also has more than adequate parking which would enable our congregation to grow over a number of years. Additionally, it’s convenient to many of the retail outlets that many in our congregation regularly frequent, which could make the church a point of refreshment, fellowship and reference all throughout the week! Stay tuned for updates as the search continues! In the meantime, your faith-filled prayers would be greatly appreciated. (Since this blog posted, negotiations for the facility spoken of above have been terminated. Please continue to pray as HBC waits on the Lord for a facility.)
